Multicloud pod restart fails

Ukponmwan, Itohan

Hi All,

I am trying to restart the multicloud pods in SB06 but it fails. I also tried to redeploy multicloud but I see the same error in both cases.

root@oom-rancher:~/oom/kubernetes# kubectl get pods -n onap |grep multicloud

I also did a describe on the multicloud pod but I see the following error in the events section;

Has anyone had success in restarting the #kubernetes cluster after a power outage with an #OOM #Beijing ONAP #beijing #kubernetes #oom

After a power outage about 75% of the pods come back. And for the most part the functionality is not working. Seeing a bunch of errors for pods that look like this: container "portal-db-job" in pod "onap-portal-db-config-n6lrn" is waiting to start: PodInitializing

Re: DMAAP - Keystore was tampered with, or password was incorrect

Harry,

I think the SSL cert in 1.0.12 has expired.

Try using 1.0.13.  There was a fix which seemed to address this (https://gerrit.onap.org/r/gitweb?p=dmaap/buscontroller.git;a=commit;h=66babf21bfc92ab0b522284ca8435a1faafffafc)

Subject: [onap-discuss] DMAAP - Keystore was tampered with, or password was incorrect

Hi Dmaap Team,

I’m deploy ONAP Beijing release using Heat template but container (/onap/dmaap/buscontroller:1.0.12) is always failing because of a password issue.

The Error log is:

2018-11-26 02:55:04,044||main|||DCAE||ERROR|||Exception java.io.IOException: Keystore was tampered with, or password was incorrect

2018-11-26 02:55:04,045||main|||DCAE||ERROR|||possibly unable to use keystore etc/keystore with passwords Perish the thought and Perish the thought

2018-11-26 02:55:04,047||main|||DCAE||ERROR|||Unable to start Jetty etc/dmaapbc.properties

I don’t know if DCAE has something to do with this but DCAE does can pass healthcheck.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Harry

Hi Jorge,

Then, I decided to remove both VF Modules and redeploy the stack. Then, drools' logs seem to reach a step further but no success. In this case BPMN errors appeared and I attached them in a file. The error seemed to be:

All the parameters in the payload were related to the 1st VF Module and not the Dummy one (should that be right?). However, these BPMN logs were not repeated when I tried to send a new alarm.

Finally, I tried to create a completely new service instance for this use case but the same issues. BPMN logs are not repeated too. Inspecting 'ApiHandlerInfra' logs I see that everytime I send an alarm the next output is generated:

It seems no resource ID is found. However, named-query to A&AI seems to provide full VNF info.
I hope some light on this.

Kind regards.

Hello,

According to your output, readiness checks are failing, make sure that policydb and nexus container dependencies come up ok.

Best regards,

Hello,
In Beijing  installation the  drools   pod  status  is init and  doesn't run.  It's  waiting  on   init status  even  deleted  the  pod  several  times, although there is  no  error in the  logs. It can't create the drools container.  Is the  any  method  to  fix this ?

Hello  Xoan,

Try to dig into the $POLICY_LOGS/debug.log around the “2018-11-26T10:22:49.647+00:00” timestamp and see what’s the issue formulating the SO request that is not shown here.

Best regards,

Jorge

Subject: [onap-discuss] ONAP OOM Beijing - vLB use case

Hi all,

I am having troubles in the last part of the CL. Concretely, from drools' logs I receive a FAILURE message but no information about why.

My vLB VM is not reporting correct VES events (so no alarms are generated). This is not an issue to test the CL since I can simply manually send one VES event from Postman. I've just did it so I share below drools' logs:

I would appreciate your comments,

Re: [DCAE] Does pnda cli supports only keystone v2.0

Donald Hunter

Hi Bharath,

The DMaaP topic is unauthenticated.VES_MEASUREMENT_OUTPUT and the PNDA topic is ves.avro. The logstash configuration would look like this:

input {
  kafka {
    topics => ["unauthenticated.VES_MEASUREMENT_OUTPUT"]
    bootstrap_servers => "dmaap-host:9092"
  }
}

filter {
  mutate {
    add_field => {
      "src" => "ves"
      "host_ip" => "onap.demon"
    }
    rename => { "message" => "rawdata"}
  }
  ruby {
    # Convert the Logstash timestamp to a milliseconds timestamp integer
    # You can use whatever makes sense to you as long as the timestamp is a valid timestamp integer in milliseconds
    code => "event.set('timestamp', (event.get('@timestamp').to_f * 1000).to_i)"
  }
}

output {
  kafka {
    topic_id => "ves.avro"
    bootstrap_servers => "pnda-kafka-host:9094"
    value_serializer => "org.apache.kafka.common.serialization.ByteArraySerializer"
    codec => pnda-avro{
      schema_uri => "dataplatform-raw.avsc"
    }
  }
  stdout {
    codec => "json"
  }
}

Note that this will also display the messages to stdout, which is helpful for debugging. You can remove the stdout section if you don't want that.

Cheers,
Donald.

Hi, Team,

Thanks for your hard work to have tested almost all use cases with staging. Now we have the release image, which is relatively stable. Over the last few days (thanks for all the people who have worked through this Thanksgiving weekend !!!) , we have done the following integration testing with release build:

  1. Passed all basic santity testing: 78/78: http://onapci.org/jenkins/job/windriver-sb01-oom-manual/
  2. Finished vFW/vDNS use case;
  3. Finished Scale out use case;
  4. Finished 72 hours stability testing: https://wiki.onap.org/display/DW/Casablanca+Release+Stability+Testing+Status
  5. Resilency testing in progress (so far, most of them have passed except one): https://wiki.onap.org/display/DW/Casablanca+Release+Resiliency+Testing+Status

Please retest the use case you are responsible if you have not done so!

Michael, my email has been behaving strangely today. So sorry that I missed the fact that the link is to the protected page (https://wiki.onap.org/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=43387665). You are not in violation of any licensing.  I look forward to your completing of the review table.

If you cannot fix an exploitable vulnerability, please note that in the table and describe the risk of exploit plus any compensating controls that an ONAP user could put in place to lessen the risk.

Hi Michael,

We has some licensing compliance with the tool we are using for the scan.

To circumvent the issue, we had to create a restricted to committers wiki space that embeds the “Artifact”, “Version”, and “Problem Code”. This helps committer to track exactly their issue.

For general audience, SECCOM team created an open to everyone, curated wiki page without the labeled “Artifact”, “Version”, and “Problem Code”. RN is ReadTheDocs will point toward the curated wiki page.

Hope this help.

Thanks,

Gildas

Still a wip in my queue along with other work – I have almost finished details on the last couple ones for sdnc-context-builder – I find copying from the nexus-iq sections to this security page extremely tedious – figuring out each exploit and recommending a compensating control not in (upgrade to the latest, use an alternate) is going to take some time – especially with the pomba code and with re-integration testing - in hind sight I should have just labeled everything with an ignore action like some of the other teams.

I don’t understand what this issue is with the columns and links – the security page is not accessible to the public – hence why no one except committers can access the page.

  1. Remove the columns labeled “Artifact”, “Version”, and “Problem Code”. This are fields that cannot be publicly accessible per the license.

I followed the existing template – there are other pages like a random pick below that contain these columns and links.

Are you saying that the logging page needs to be different from the rest of onap

Thank you for your work on the vulnerability reviews. I need you to update the table at https://wiki.onap.org/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=43385152.

  1. Remove the links to NexusIQ reports.
  2. Remove the columns labeled “Artifact”, “Version”, and “Problem Code”. This are fields that cannot be publicly accessible per the license.
  3. Remove all entries about licenses.
  4. Indicate if the vulnerability is a false positive (not exploitable from the logging code) or exploitable.
  5. For all exploitable vulnerabilities, describe any compensating controls that a user of ONAP can put in place to reduce the risk of the vulnerability being exploited.
  6. Make sure that all security vulnerabilities in the NexusIQ reports are accounted for in the Vulnerability review table.

Thank you for your attention to this.

Gildas, Amy,

   I updated the page for our 3rd pass through the CLM issues – there are some changes post the new CLM reports and the oparent change and the recent SDNC ssl changes.

   Based on the updates where I went through the 7 repo CLM reports in tedious detail – I think we should be switched to pass like the other teams – as most of our issues are common to onap.

https://wiki.onap.org/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=43385152

   The table has 2 parts – the old baseline – which I would still like to go over and the new section at the top which is the current CLM state.

   There are 3 main areas

– spring boot 2.x upgrade related (this is big and is the same issue the rest of ONAP has around using 1.5.17 of the library – we are 1 of N for this

  • Jackson databind – all of ONAP has an issue with this library – there is no good version – revisit an alternate in the near future
  • Various jaxb, json, jms issues – half license related – most of these are in the sdnc pomba repo – this one needs to be fixed – James and I will work on this when we get time – along with the developers that put the most recent changes in.

We also need some action on a couple of the TSC issues (nexus-iq alternatives, clm access to nexus-iq and the wiki for contributors) that I raised jiras on.

Updating my page right now to redo all the false positive comments so they are more clear and also up to date with the new CLM results.

Also a pass on other projects is also required – as per our discussion on the moving target of CLM

For example the oparent project states that their CLM issues are the responsibility of the downstream projects.

I think either oparent keeps their versions current to fix CLM issues at the root so downstream can pick up the fix – or oparent stops assigning versions and leaves the CLM fix flexibility with the downstream projects. – the spring version is fixed for example

Hi Jimmy, Michael O, Michael L, Huabing, Dan, Tao,

Following up on Vulnerabilities for Casablanca.

At this point in the release, I tend to think these vulnerabilities are not going to be fixed by code. However, I think what Amy, Pawel and Stephen would like to hear is about the usage of these vulnerable functions by ONAP code.

Please let us know and update accordingly your wiki page.

*Amy, Pawel, Stephen, let me know if I have missed interpreted your thoughts process.

Re: PNDA Demo - Few Questions Answered #dcaegen2

Thanks Donald.

In summary:  spark-streaming application (ZTT) is used to read message from Kafka, unpacks the data and  write the data in OpenTSDB. In case of HDFS store, Gobblin can be used with no additional program.

In Gobblin case, what is the role of PNDA? Is it that PNDA developed a plugin in Gobblin? If so, what does that do?

Thanks

Yes, gobblin is configured to automatically ingest data that it recognises off any topic into HDFS. PNDA can normalize incoming data to Avro but gobblin would need to be configured to do so. PNDA currently runs gobblin in batch mode, scheduled every 30 minutes by default. Each batch produces a separate file in HDFS.

PNDA can be used to ingest data from Kafka to OpenTSDB. Gobblin is not used for this, though that may be possible. The pnda-ztt-app in the dcaegen2/analytics/pnda repository is a spark streaming application that receives data from Kafka, unpacks timeseries data values and writes them to OpenTSDB. The unpacking step is schema specific so the app is extensible. It currently unpacks Cisco telemetry and VES cpu messages. It will be extended to support all VES message content.

Cheers,
Donald.

Edit demo-k8s.sh or runTags.sh inside the robot container  and remove the “—RemoveKeywords” option so you can see what robot is sending to openstack.

Likely your integration-override.yaml has something wrong since demo-k8s.sh onap init works against multiple clouds and tenants today and is regression tested daily.

In comparing your integration-override.yaml with a known good one it looks like the  openStackEncryptedPasswordHere is in the wrong path. It should be under an config/openStackEncryptedPasswordHere as shown in the robot section below.

Hi Brian,

I re-deployed the ONAP again and now I am able to login to portal. But it looks like demo-init is still failing…

You need to look deeper into the logs to see the problem.

On robot init go to nodeport 30209/logs/  (trailing slash is required) and look for your test. Default login:password is test:test

Failed login portal is rare but it could be that Portal cant authenticate to AAF. Check the Portal logs to see if its a failure response in the Portal to AAF query.

Hi Brian,

I was successfully deployed all the containers and health check passed. But I am unable to login to portal (Getting invalid password.. cs0008/demo123456!) & even the demo-k8s.sh onap init is failing.

Any pointers?

Hello Adam, Viresh:

Please use version 1.4.3 of App C Docker. This has the resolution to the issue that causes this error to be thrown. Ensure before you run the test again, that the TRANSACTIONS table is empty, if database was not re-installed.

Thanks.

Ramya

Hi,

I've configured CL using APPC as actor in operational policy and also have this issue.

I'm using Casablanca lab created with oom procedure.

Re: [DCAE] Does pnda cli supports only keystone v2.0

Donald Hunter

Hi Bharath,

At the moment, the helm template for dcae-pnda-bootstrap hard-codes KEYSTONE_AUTH_VERSION: '2' even though the pnda-cli installer does support v3:

https://github.com/pndaproject/pnda-cli/blob/develop/cli/backend_heat_templates.py#L310-L317

You could try modifying oom/kubernetes/pnda/charts/dcae-pnda-bootstrap/resources/inputs/pnda_env.yaml to change KEYSTONE_AUTH_VERSION to '3' then rebuilding the helm templates.

I will reply to your logstash question in a separate message – I need to gather some info first.

Cheers,
Donald.
