Hi, Guangrong,

I will try your postman request; I’m not sure what could be wrong but it looks like a payload issue.  Can you try with v13 or v14 and tell me what the AAI logs say?

Thanks,

jimmy

Hi Guangrong,

It is an payload issue with in the following PUT request

PUT /aai/v11/network/generic-vnfs/generic-vnf/example-vnf-id-val-92494/relationship-list/relationship

You currently have the payload as following:

{

                "related-to": "vserver",

                "relationship-data": [

                                {

                                                "relationship-key": "cloud-region.cloud-region-id",

                                                "relationship-value": "example-cloud-region-id-val-56689"

                                },

                                {

                                                "relationship-key": "tenant.tenant-id",

                                                "relationship-value": "example-tenant-id-val-51834"

                                },

                                {

                                                "relationship-key": "vserver.vserver-id",

                                                "relationship-value": "example-vserver-id-val-51834"

                                }

                ]

}

You are missing the cloud-owner which is part of the key so you should have sent the payload as below:

{

                "related-to": "vserver",

                "relationship-data": [

                                {

                                                "relationship-key": "cloud-region.cloud-region-id",

                                                "relationship-value": "example-cloud-region-id-val-56689"

                                },

                                {

                                                "relationship-key": "cloud-region.cloud-owner",

                                                "relationship-value": "example-cloud-owner-val-45051"

                                },

                                {

                                                "relationship-key": "tenant.tenant-id",

                                                "relationship-value": "example-tenant-id-val-51834"

                                },

                                {

                                                "relationship-key": "vserver.vserver-id",

                                                "relationship-value": "example-vserver-id-val-51834"

                                }

                ]

}

In order to avoid these kind of issues in the future, there is a much simpler way to create the relationship with the following payload:

{

                "related-to": "vserver",

                "related-link": "/cloud-infrastructure/cloud-regions/cloud-region/example-cloud-owner-val-45051/example-cloud-region-id-val-56689/tenants/tenant/example-tenant-id-val-51834/vservers/vserver/example-vserver-id-val-51834"

}

In the payload to the relationship, you can choose either the related-link or the relationship-data.

Thanks,
Harish

Hi Jimmy,

Neither v13 nor v14 is available in my own env. I followed https://wiki.onap.org/display/DW/How+to+Docker+setup+on+Single+VM+HEAT+Deployment to setup a "simple" AAI. I'm not sure whether I'm using the right version of AAI or not.

Any idea?

Guangrong

Hi Jimmy and Harish,

The cloud-region schema element is unusual in that it has a two-part key i.e. "cloud-owner" and "cloud-region-id". There are not many other usages of it ("ctag-pool" , "service-capability" and "route-target" are three others, out of over 100 other schema elements)

Is it possible to enhance the error message to indicate that part of the key value is missing from the relationship-data?
Is it time to deprecate the relationship-data and switch over to using the related-link only?

Is there any modeling guidance that would steer new designs away from using multi-part key for schema elements?
Are there other caveats to using the multi-part key design for schema elements?

Hi,

We are working on a use case, and we found out that we can create relationships between specific nodes only in the graph database.

Is there a way to allow us to create a relationship between any 2 nodes, without having to rebuild the schema or without having to rebuilt AAI ?

Hi Abdelmuhaimen,

The EdgeRules are a specific part of the schema design that restricts the objects that go into the relationship-list.

You could bring your use case to https://wiki.onap.org/display/DW/AAI+Weekly+Status+Meeting
or https://wiki.onap.org/display/DW/AAI+Developers+Meeting to discuss with the team.

It may be possible to help you disable the EdgeRule validation for your testing and development purposes.

Otherwise, it is also possible to add a number of extra EdgeRules that would effectively allow any and all pairs of object classes to be related to each other. This might not be included in the community contribution, but you can keep it in your private dev environment if you choose.

There is a plan to allow more dynamic changes to the AAI schema that do not require rebuild or restart of services, but that is not fully realised yet.

There are procedures that can be used to patch EdgeRules into running systems, but these are not recommended, as they are not persistent when pods are restarted.
The procedure is a version of this tutorial (adapted to OOM-based deployment of the docker containers) : https://wiki.onap.org/display/DW/AAI+Tutorial-Making+and+Testing+a+Schema+Change+-+Dublin

Venkata Harish K Kajur

Hi Guangrong,

I have already replied to this thread regarding the issue, please take a look here:

It is an payload issue with in the following PUT request

PUT /aai/v11/network/generic-vnfs/generic-vnf/example-vnf-id-val-92494/relationship-list/relationship

You currently have the payload as following:

{

                "related-to": "vserver",

                "relationship-data": [

                                {

                                                "relationship-key": "cloud-region.cloud-region-id",

                                                "relationship-value": "example-cloud-region-id-val-56689"

                                },

                                {

                                                "relationship-key": "tenant.tenant-id",

                                                "relationship-value": "example-tenant-id-val-51834"

                                },

                                {

                                                "relationship-key": "vserver.vserver-id",

                                                "relationship-value": "example-vserver-id-val-51834"

                                }

                ]

}

You are missing the cloud-owner which is part of the key so you should have sent the payload as below:

{

                "related-to": "vserver",

                "relationship-data": [

                                {

                                                "relationship-key": "cloud-region.cloud-region-id",

                                                "relationship-value": "example-cloud-region-id-val-56689"

                                },

                                {

                                                "relationship-key": "cloud-region.cloud-owner",

                                                "relationship-value": "example-cloud-owner-val-45051"

                                },

                                {

                                                "relationship-key": "tenant.tenant-id",

                                                "relationship-value": "example-tenant-id-val-51834"

                                },

                                {

                                                "relationship-key": "vserver.vserver-id",

                                                "relationship-value": "example-vserver-id-val-51834"

                                }

                ]

}

In order to avoid these kind of issues in the future, there is a much simpler way to create the relationship with the following payload:

{

                "related-to": "vserver",

                "related-link": "/cloud-infrastructure/cloud-regions/cloud-region/example-cloud-owner-val-45051/example-cloud-region-id-val-56689/tenants/tenant/example-tenant-id-val-51834/vservers/vserver/example-vserver-id-val-51834"

}

In the payload to the relationship, you can choose either the related-link or the relationship-data.

Hi Jimmy,

Is there any update on this? My pairwise testing is still blocked by it.

Hi, Guangrong,

I will try your postman request; I’m not sure what could be wrong but it looks like a payload issue.  Can you try with v13 or v14 and tell me what the AAI logs say?

Thanks,

jimmy

Failed to Create Relationship in AAI

Greetings Jimmy,

I'm trying to mock some data into AAI to complete the pairwising testing between Holmes, AAI and Policy. When I was creating vnf data and vserver data, everything seemed to be okay. But when I  tried to create the relationship among those resources, an error occurred:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>

<Fault>

    <requestError>

        <serviceException>

            <messageId>SVC3000</messageId>

            <text>Invalid input performing %1 on %2 (msg=%3) (ec=%4)</text>

            <variables>

                <variable>PUT_EDGE</variable>

                <variable>network/generic-vnfs/generic-vnf/example-vnf-id-val-92494</variable>

                <variable>Invalid input performing %1 on %2:Could not parse relationship-list object: null</variable>

                <variable>ERR.5.2.3000</variable>

            </variables>

        </serviceException>

    </requestError>

</Fault>

Attached is the Postman config file I used for testing (I'd created Model, VNF and VM before I tried to create the relationship). Could you please help to solve the problem so that I could proceed  with my work?

Thanks,

Guangrong

Hi Guangrong,

Harish diagnosed your problem in an earlier message:
https://lists.onap.org/g/onap-discuss/message/16740

Just update your request payload to create the relationship.
