For ONAP I am only allocating Zoom Bridges to North-hall and Terrace 2A- any meetings should be planned for one of those two rooms. Thanks! -kenny

Hi Kenny,
Is this limitation due to infra (e.g. mics and loudspeakers available in the rooms) limitation at Prague meeting venue? Or something else?
cheers
Timo

Hi Timo, the primary thing to keep front of mind is that all DDFs are always intended to be “In-Person” events. As such most of our efforts should appropriately be focused on ensuring that those physically attending the event are getting the maximum benefit out of their attendance. - Feedback to the PMs have been consistent over the course of these events that unless someone from the LF is physically staffing the board:
- it was too hard to hear
- someone in the room didn’t connect to the bridge
- someone tried to connect to the zoom bridge but couldn’t
- the session wasn’t recorded
- Most of the above issues result in a staff member being called away in real-time from whatever session we are managing to go and provide end-user support in a different room. We will have a very small staff presence at this event to both facilitate and respond to the dozens of interrupts that having multiple zoom bridges creates.
- Last year in Paris even in the plenary room the remote presentations were outright failures; most of them being inaudible, taking too long to get running and wasting the time of the on-site attendees. There was a great deal of dissatisfaction expressed over this.
- Earlier this year ONAP had all of our zoom bridges high-jacked one night as a result of an event, so the less exposure, the better.
- And finally the cost in terms of physical hardware, equipment rental, setup and debugging. To keep equipment costs low I’ve hauled 5 laptops, (3 LF and 2 personal) to events for the past 2 years and I know that Jim has brought at least 3 with him since he joined, (2 of those also being personal). There have been times when we have had to leave our own laptops unlocked in unsecure locations where anyone could walk away with them. This is not a practice we wish to continue.
There is nothing that prevents someone from starting a zoom session of their own if they want to, but that will be the session owner’s full responsibility. @Jim BakerJB, anything you want to add? Hope that helps -kenny

Thanks Kenny for the review of our plans to limit the zoom sessions at the LFN Developer and Testing Forums.
Rather than spread zoom like peanut butter, can we shift the important presentations into rooms that are hosting zoom? I believe this prioritization will help the community focus on the key topics AND assist new comers by providing a guide to "what's most important for ONAP".
Just my thoughts, Jim

Kenny,
Thank you for sharing the insights.
Very interesting and not obvious at least for this Program Committee member. I think this is good also for us to know should community members approach us with the same
question. And to make it clear let me ensure my question was honest, it did not carry any hidden agenda nor indirect criticism of any kind.
I fully agree with your point, our first priority shall be to make it best possible experience for those making the effort to attend in person.
cheers
Timo

Jim, all,
Thanks for your proposal, Jim! This was what I started to think as well when reading Kenny’s response. Since we will have two rooms with remote access capability, I think
we really should try to allocate those rooms for the presentations we assume would most benefit from it.
cheers
Timo
