Dear TSC Members,

The simple task of tallying up email votes isn’t as straightforward as it sounds. Ideally folks reply to the original vote email that was sent out and their reply goes back into the original email thread nice and clean. 

Unfortunately this isn’t an ideal world.

• Some email clients monkey with the reply subject line in a manner that creates a brand new email thread
• Company email systems often completely re-write the subject line on any out-bound message which also creates a brand new email thread
• Folks regularly reply to nested +1 of a +1 of a +1 of a +1… rather than replying to the original message, which occurs on both the original and alternate email threads

These may all seem trivial unless you are one of the people that has to deal with it all of the time. The way we are doing it doesn't make sense when there are tools like the built in poll functionality in groups.io available to us which automate that.  It provides us with the ability to both see vote count and who has responded immediately without having to wade through emails and verify responses. 

I am asking that the TSC adopt the groups.io poll function (like this one) as the way we handle off-line TSC votes going forward.
